What overlaps and what differs
Overlap: both exams cover firewall policy, user identification (Identity Awareness on Check Point, active and passive authentication on FortiGate), inspection of encrypted traffic, application control and URL or web filtering, and threat prevention such as antivirus and IPS.
Differs: the CCSA modules spend time on the management side (administrator accounts, objects, policy layers, log management with the Log Server, SmartLog and SmartEvent). NSE 4 gives explicit weight to routing, including SD-WAN, and to IPsec VPNs, which have no dedicated CCSA module. Fortinet also says its exam includes operational scenarios, configuration extracts and troubleshooting captures.
