Sample question

Recognize Nutanix Solutions and Tools

A customer plans a four-node AHV cluster, which will grow over time, for a site with high data protection requirements. They want every storage container to keep three copies of the data. What should the architect tell them?

  1. Use replication factor 1 on the containers, which Nutanix recommends for high protection requirements
  2. Four nodes are enough: 1N&1D fault tolerance runs replication factor 3 on any cluster of three nodes or more
  3. Replication factor 3 keeps the original data plus one copy, so four nodes are enough
  4. Replication factor 3 is right, but four nodes are not enough: 1N&1D needs exactly three, 2N/2D at least five
Show the answer and the explanation

Correct answer: D

Replication factor 3 is supported with two cluster fault tolerance levels. With 1N&1D, the minimum and the maximum number of nodes are the same, three. With 2N/2D, the minimum is five nodes. A four-node cluster that will grow therefore needs at least five nodes.
